I was browsing the new 'Photo' slide show on Paper Digital Art and Images by Kim and I was bowled over when Francis Mk's'The Frog Prince' popped into view.
The other-worldly atmosphere of 'The Frog Prince' just pulled me into the prince's world. I wanted to stay in that land of the shimmering green horizons.
Francis has paid such close attention to detail, she hasn't just finished the edges of her card, but the dark edging actually adds to the atmosphere of the art card's world. The darkness echoed in the stoic lady's dark hat, her dark umbrella, her shadow, and the frog's crown all enhance depth and reality.
And that dress! You'd think that kind of contrasting vibrancy would just pop right out of it's art- cardness and into your lap....but her heavy shadow and the umbrella seem to hold her in her place.
I believe from her expression and from the fact that her back is turned to the frog, that our Lady-of-the-Purple-Stripes is not fooled by the easy, simple solutions of Fairy Tales. Me thinks the lady will solve her own problems rather successfully and is not in need of a White Knight, or a prince (formerly known as 'a frog').
I'm sure Francis would welcome comments from visitors as well.
